Trader Registration Opens and Six Approved Warehouses Designated

The Customs Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network today opened registration for traders. Any business that imports or exports commercial consignments regularly should hold a Trader Registration Number, which is quoted on every declaration the trader makes. The 1,240 traders registered with member organisations before establishment have been transferred to the Service's register and need not apply again; their existing numbers remain valid and confirmation has been sent to each by email.

The Service has designated six approved warehouses, four at the Westbrook Distribution Site and two at Southbank Quay, in which imported goods may be held with duty suspended until they are removed for use in the Network or re-exported. Applications to operate further approved warehouses are considered on the terms set out on the Traders page of this site.

Duty deferment accounts, which allow registered traders to pay the duty assessed in a calendar month by the fifteenth day of the following month against a security, open on 1 October 2026. Until then duty is paid against each assessment notice before release. Applications for registration, deferment and warehouse approval are made by writing to contact@customs.gov.vin.
